From independent gift boutiques to family-owned dining spots, small businesses shape the identity of King County. They are the heartbeat—and at the Community Business Connector (CBC), our mission is to keep the rhythm going.
Our newest video campaign is a reflection of that commitment.
Created just in time to prep for Seattle’s exciting summer of soccer, the stylized video announces the CBC’s Business Ready Portal, an online hub where small businesses can access resources, technical assistance, and more in one convenient, centralized location. The best part? It’s completely free for both businesses and service providers offering support.
But this video is more than just an invitation to join our Business Ready Portal. It’s an example of how the CBC invests directly into our small business ecosystem.
To bring this project to life, we partnered with Seattle Metro Chamber member Desautel Hege (DH), a social impact agency known for strategic marketing services with an equity-centered approach. With an overarching mission to enhance public health, promote economic development, and advocate for justice, DH wraps up their own story with the words, “we make it fun.”
So, we let them have fun. They called on freelance illustrator Chanelle Nibbelink to create the visual artistry that brought this feature full circle. Nibbelink’s animated style—which she defines herself as a mix of ‘sophistication and quirk’—is exactly the tone that the CBC intends to reflect, and we were thrilled to empower another small business owner to get the job done. Plus, her artwork is a perfect representation of the small business community that we support: vibrant, imaginative, and full of color.
Through these partnerships, we aligned this project with the values that drive our work forward. We’re here to lend support, but we’re also committed to creating opportunities and amplifying the voices that we serve.
In Seattle, it’s about to get loud—soccer fans are pouring in and the chaos is coming with them. We invite you to take advantage of the resources we’ve cooked up in the Business Ready Portal. After all, we’re in the biz of supporting small biz. And when our small businesses succeed, our community succeeds with them.
